A Cook County Jury signed a verdict in favor of Lisa Johnson whose motor vehicle was struck at an intersection by the defendant driver, Harold Schwind. The lawsuit alleged that Schwind ran a red light and drove through the intersection at Schick Road and County Farm Road in Hanover Park, Ill. The Schwind vehicle hit Johnson’s car on the driver’s side as she drove through the intersection on a green light.
The Johnson vehicle rolled over after being struck, which caused a fractured tailbone. The tailbone fracture required surgery, extensive physical therapy and multiple steroid injections. Johnson also underwent nerve blocks prior to the surgery.
Although the Schwind insurance policy had a policy limit of $1.25 million, counsel for Johnson argued that her damages far exceeded that amount. The jury agreed.
The attorneys representing Schwind claimed that Johnson’s tailbone fracture was unrelated to this crash.
After deliberating, the jury signed a verdict of $3 million in favor of Lisa Johnson.
The attorneys successfully handling this matter for Johnson were Jack Cannon of Cannon Law and Patrick C. Anderson of Juris Writer.
