The law states, \u201cA resident shall be permitted to conduct authorized electronic monitoring of the resident\u2019s room through the use of electronic monitoring devices placed in the room pursuant to this act,\u201d Section 10(a).<\/p>\n<p>This new statute places ownership and control of the electronic monitoring process in the hands of the resident. \u201cA resident choosing to conduct authorized electronic monitoring must do so at his or her expense, including paying purchase, installation, maintenance and removal costs,\u201d Section 25.<\/p>\n<p>Because of the authority of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ilga.gov\/legislation\/ilcs\/ilcs5.asp?ActID=1225&amp;ChapAct=210\">Illinois Nursing Home Care Act<\/a>, once a video recording is made in a resident\u2019s room under this legislation, it is not permitted to be destroyed.
