In this case, Edward M. Fiala Jr. sued <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enrichinghappiness.com\/index.html\">Bickford Senior Living Group<\/a>\u00a0in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.countyofkane.org\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Kane County<\/a>, Ill. Bickford moved to compel arbitration based on an agreement, called \u201cthe establishment contract\u201d that his daughter, Susan Kahanic, signed as attorney-in-fact under a health-care power of attorney.<\/p>\n<p>Kahanic\u2019s signature on the establishment contract was required in order to get Fiala admitted to Bickford Senior Living Group\u2019s facility.<\/p>\n<p>It was argued that the health-care power of attorney did not authorize Kahanic to consent to the arbitration provision in the establishment contract.
