{"id":1369,"date":"2021-12-06T10:00:42","date_gmt":"2021-12-06T16:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.robertkreisman.com\/nursing-home-lawyer\/?p=1369"},"modified":"2021-12-04T16:06:26","modified_gmt":"2021-12-04T22:06:26","slug":"150000-settlement-for-the-wrongful-death-of-patient-who-was-refused-readmission-to-nursing-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.robertkreisman.com\/nursing-home-lawyer\/150000-settlement-for-the-wrongful-death-of-patient-who-was-refused-readmission-to-nursing-home\/","title":{"rendered":"$150,000 Settlement for Wrongful Death of Patient Who Was Refused Readmission to Nursing Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Patrick DeLaurie Jr. suffered from numerous health issues that included diabetes, cirrhosis of the liver and kidney disease.\u00a0 About eight months into his admission at Sentera Nursing Center-Chesapeake, DeLaurie was sent temporarily to a hospital intensive care unit.\u00a0 He was later discharged to return to the nursing home, and this allegedly was communicated to the nursing home\u2019s administrator.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, when DeLaurie returned to the nursing home, he was denied readmission.\u00a0 The nursing home staff allegedly refused to allow DeLaurie to retrieve his possessions, medications or wheelchair, and threatened to arrest him for trespassing, claiming that he had left the hospital against medical advice.<\/p>\n<p>DeLaurie died that week.
