Following that surgery, Overstreet complained of vomiting and nausea. She was hospitalized with neurological symptoms and later went into a coma and never recovered. She suffered from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caregiver.org\/resource\/wernicke-korsakoff-syndrome\/?gad_source=1&#038;gbraid=0AAAAACzsNl9FjNiUIIVc2n7yFDL0Bzo16&#038;gclid=CjwKCAjwnK60BhA9EiwAmpHZw2a6b7NkR65cRuQ7UrX0TEFjHiKZf8uEPbl8RjXselSXk-XC9Xp42RoCrccQAvD_BwE\">Wernick\u2019s encephalopathy<\/a>, a swelling of the brain caused by thiamine deficiency. <\/p>\n<p>Overstreet died seven years later. The executor of her estate, First Midwest Bank, filed suit against Dr. Rossi for negligence.
