The \u201ctechnologist\u201d at the screening noticed a slightly inverted left nipple and a brown discharge, which Osten had not noticed before. <\/p>\n<p>The mammogram revealed bilateral benign <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/women\/guide\/breast-calcification-symptoms-causes-treatments#1\">calcification<\/a> and no other masses or malignancy. No further tests were ordered. In December 2011, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She died on March 19, 2015.  <\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 20, 2017, Joseph Osten, as special administrator for Gail Osten\u2019s estate, filed suit against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nm.org\/locations\/northwestern-memorial-hospital\">Northwestern Memorial Hospital<\/a>, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, <a href=\"https:\/\/nyepartners.com\">Nye Partners in Women\u2019s Health<\/a> and three of the medical providers who treated Osten in April 2011.<br \/>\n <a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertkreisman.com\/medical-malpractice-lawyer\/illinois-appellate-court-affirms-dismissal-of-wrongful-death-claim-for-the-expiration-of-the-statute-of-limitations-on-negligence\/#more-4206\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On April 21, 2011, Gail Osten had a screening mammogram.
