The defendants involved doctors and staff at Trinity Hospital, a Chicago hospital affiliated with Advocate Health Care.  The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertkreisman.com\/lawyer-attorney-1331861.html\">Illinois medical malpractice case<\/a> was <em>Pettway v. Advocate Trinity Hospital<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Although two year-old Justin Pettway had no history of seizures, one night his parents found him suffering from a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayoclinic.com\/health\/grand-mal-seizure\/DS00222\">grand mal seizure<\/a> in his bed.  His EMT mother and paramedic father rushed Justin to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.advocatehealth.com\/trin\/\">Chicago&#8217;s Advocate Trinity Hospital<\/a> because it was the closest hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The seizures that Justin was having lasted a total of 22 minutes, only stopping after the emergency room physicians ordered seizure-stopping medications.  A medical decision was reached to transfer Justin to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uchospitals.edu\/index.shtml\">University of Chicago Medical Center<\/a> for further treatment.  But before he could be transferred, a CT scan was ordered to rule out a brain bleed.
