The radiologist and defendant, Dr. Jeffrey Short, an employee of <a href=\"http:\/\/charlestonradiologists.com\">Charleston Radiologists<\/a>, read the mammogram as showing <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dystrophic_calcification\">dystrophic calcifications <\/a>in the right breast; this was not present on an earlier mammogram.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Short characterized the calcifications as benign and did not order any additional testing.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 2 years later, she discovered a lump in her right breast.
