The terms of the settlement agreement were not revealed.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The trial had been scheduled to begin in the middle of October 2013.<span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>The next bellwether trial is set to begin in January 2014 in Los Angeles.<span>\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jnj.com\/\">Johnson &amp; Johnson <\/a>and its subsidiary, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.depuy.com\/node\/48218\">DePuy Orthopaedics Inc.<\/a>, face thousands of lawsuits at the federal and state levels regarding the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.depuy.com\/asr-hip-replacement-recall\">ASR implants.<\/a><span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In March 2013, a Los Angeles jury returned a verdict of $8.3 million in damages to a retired prison guard who claimed that he was injured by the device.<span>\u00a0<\/span>This was the first such trial against the orthopedic company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertkreisman.com\/injury-lawyer\/hip-implant-case-settled-two-weeks-trial\/#more-2522\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A confidential settlement agreement was reached just two weeks before the start of a bellwether case in a coordinated litigation in California regarding hip implants.
