GES Exposition Services, et al."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--[if gte mso 9]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 A $2.24 million verdict was entered in favor of a 36-year-old electrician working as a groundman for an aerial lift truck at a booth at the International Machine Tool Show at <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/McCormick_Place\">Chicago\u2019s McCormick Place<\/a> in August 2006.<span>\u00a0<\/span>The plaintiff, William Purnell, came upon a steel beam that was blocking the path of the aerial truck.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The steel beam was 22 feet long, 3 feet high and weighed 1,800-2,000 pounds.<span>\u00a0<\/span>The beam was located in an area that was prohibited as a \u201cno-freight\u201d aisle.<span>\u00a0<\/span>The beam had been left there by riggers working for the defendant <a href=\"http:\/\/ges.com\/Home.aspx\">GES Exposition<\/a>.<span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">When Purnell attempted to move the beam out of the way, the beam toppled over and landed on his left foot.
